WG3/3.1: Minutes of previous meeting
The minutes of Stockholm Aug 6th 2003 were agreed as a correct record.
WG3/3.2 Matters arising from those minutes
Matters arising are all included in the minutes below.
WG3/3.3 Report to Barcelona & Plans sent to ConGAS chair
These were looked at and approved.
WG3/3.4 STSMs - past and future
Past STSMs (WG3)
Stella Paschalidou, Sandra Pauletto, Enrico Costanza
Till Bovermann was on a STSM in Barcelona with Martin Kaltenbrunner, investigating the possibilities for interacting with intelligent tables. As a result, a OSC protocol for data exchange via Open Sound Control was established called TUIO. Results have been compiled into a poster for the Gesture Workshop GW 2005, to be presented in Vannes, May 2005.
Planned STSMs
§ Roberto Bresin: Bruno Giordani from Padua to KTH before June 2005
§ Asri Ibrahim (York) to Bielefeld
§ John Williamson (Glasgow University, Interactive Systems Group) to Bielefeld, planning to investigate the dynamics of interaction in gestural audio interactions, in the context of interactive sonification, to take place before end of June.
We must make sure the information generated through these STSMs is disseminated through COST.
WG3/3.5 PD Educational Workshop (March 21st)
A separate document summarizes this meeting.
Action: Andy Hunt to send out a reminder to presenters to get their slides to him in PDF format. Andy then to liaise with Sandra Pauletto to get these onto the ConGAS web-site.
WG3/3.6 Multimedia Database
There are manpower and technical problems with our previous suggestions.
Action: Thomas Hermann to give previous work on s site to Sandra Pauletto. Sandra will create a Zope template to be the starting point for the documentation of projects to be collected on the ConGAS web-site. Media content will be hosted on the personal sites of contributors, and linked into these pages. The template will give a coherent appearance and structure.
Another suggestion: Every MC member could contribute at least one page to get this started quickly. This to be finalised at the MC meeting in Vannes.
Action: Nicola to put this on the Agenda of the Vannes MC meeting
WG3/3.7 Next ConGAS meeting in France, May 2005
Information is now available on the Gesture Workshop Website http://www-valoria.univ-ubs.fr/gw2005/
Action: Nicola Bernadini to contact Sylvie about the status of the Friday congas meeting.
Action (All MC members): Daniel urged that Nicola and Sylvie are informed as soon as possible as to which MC members will attend a) the Gesture Workshop, b) the MC meetings, c) Both.
WG3/3.8 Research Collaborations (current & planned) from WG3
Andy Hunt is planning an EU project on the use of Interactive Sonification to enhance the detection of anti-personnel Landmines. The central academic collaborators are all from ConGAS (Thomas Hermann & Roberto Bresin).
Kristoffer Jensen introduced briefly Tony Brooks (http://www.cs.aue.auc.dk/~tonybrooks/) who may wish to collaborate with ConGAS, and espescially WG3, due to his extensive work in interactive multimedia systems for people with disabilities.
WG3/3.9 ICAD Workshop (July 2005)
Thomas Hermann, Andy Hunt & Bill Martens are running a half-day workshop on auditory data mining in Limerick on July 5th. ICAD’s focus is on interaction this year and so may be very relevant to ConGAS. See http://www.idc.ul.ie/icad2005/ for more details.
Maybe there is a possibility of the ConGAS leaflets handed out at the conference.
WG3/3.10 Interactive Sonification Workshop (York, January 2006)
We agreed to change the date of this event to January 2007, still in York, and to be sponsored by ConGAS.
This change is to accommodate the fact that ICAD is in Europe for 2006, yet in the Americas for 2007, so we can provide a European alternative for 2007.
WG3/3.11 ConGAS Book
This item is reported separately.
WG3/3.12 Next WG3 meeting and other suggested meetings
To be decided by email.
§ ICMC 5-7 September 2005 (Barcelona) was suggested as a possible opportunity for a ConGAS workshop, potentially to be connected with WG or TWG meetings.
§ WG2 is hoping to meet in mid June in Bielefeld (details to be arranged).
§ It was suggested that the Book TWG could meet in Leeds (with Kia) before June 2005 (again, details to be arranged).
§ May or June 2006 was suggested as an MC meeting in Iceland, coupled with a potential performance event.
§ An MC meeting was also proposed for January 2007 in York, to coincide with the Interactive Sonification workshop.
